WORSHIP RETREAT at Big Sandy Camp
team values + expectations
VALUES + EXPECTATIONS
The following expectations are values we hold true and are designed to help a team with varied backgrounds align with the heart of God and with each other in moving toward common, kingdom goals. We believe that adherence to these values will be evident in daily life and carry over into conversations, interactions and personal disciplines. Rather than an expectation of perfection, these guidelines are intended to help unify us in a commitment to hungering after God and aligning with Jesus’ walk on earth!
Each member of a BSC23 leadership team will be expected to:
Demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) in daily life and in interactions with other team members, Big Sandy Camp attendees and Big Sandy Camp staff members
Operate in the gifts of the Spirit in line with the 1 Corinthians 12-14 context of building up, equipping, stirring up what the Lord has put on your heart.
Carry a mindset of celebration by championing those around you, honor by seeing others through the lens of the gospel, hunger by acknowledging that there is always more to learn and community by recognizing that you are not doing this alone.
In addition, we believe the following are important guidelines and tools for operating a kingdom focused team.
Do everything in a posture of thanksgiving (Phil 4:6-7)
Before sharing a prophetic word, “run it by RITA”*
R - Receive: operate in a posture of readiness to receive from the Holy Spirit
I - Interpret: ask the Holy Spirit, “What does this mean?”
T - Test: hold it against the scripture and character of God
A - Apply: ask the Holy Spirit, “What do you want me to say?” or “How do you want me to do this?”
A healthy prayer life should involve each of the following (“TACOS”)*
T - Thanksgiving: thanking God for what he has done
A - Adoration: praise God for who he is
C - Confession: confession of need (not a list of what you’ve done wrong)
O - Others: intercession; prayer for others in agreement with God’s character and plan
S - Self: (last on purpose)
